Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Post-apocalyptic Summertime

Post-apocalyptic Summertime

Things have pretty much gone back to normal. There are a few changes to life. For example, public transport have updated rules related to seating an available space on each vehicle. There are also significantly less foreign tourists in general which is particularly strange from this time of year. It seems that we may be able to actually have a fairly normal summer vacation. It appears that for many of us, international travel seems to be off the cards. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing there are probably plenty of wonderful things you can do at home in order to enrich yourself this summer and feel as though you are taking a well deserved break.

What can I do in my home country if I can’t travel this year?

I absolutely recommend domestic travel. There is always so much to see in the world no matter where you are. If you are in the U.K I would recommend going down to the South West of England, to Cornwall, Devon and the cities and villages around. If you don’t want to go too far from London take a day or two to go to the seaside, Mar-gate, Brighton, South-end, definitely worth checking out. If you like walking, why not the Peak district? If you are living in a place like Seoul, South Korea you probably have less restrictions, Gangneung (강릉) is lovely this time of year, actually all of Kangwon-do province is. There’s also Busan which is a beautiful beach side city. If you are in Taiwan, well I guess you are just incredibly lucky. Immerse yourself in your country’s nature. Visit a national park or something similar, organise brunch picnics outside with friends. Don’t be deterred by a lack of a plane journey.

Finally, why don’t you use this summer to fulfil one goal you’ve been putting off for ages. This summer could be the time to better yourself in some way.

What are my plans for the summer?

Honestly, I have no plans for this summer vacation. I will be busy studying and building up my CV, I also plan to work on my fitness goals. Because the majority of plans I did have the for the summer fell through due to COVID-19, I plan to just take each day as it comes. Obviously I know that I am very lucky to live in Italy. I have already got a sort of Summer vacation lying ahead of me just because I happened to be stuck in the right place at the right time. The Venice area is well served with beaches, little islands and lots of little nearby towns to visit. I plan to make the most of this while putting the majority of my summer focus into my work.

Feeling like I already had my summer vacation during quarantine definitely helps me with this mindset. I hope that however you choose to spend your summer you have a good one. X

So, here’s to a lovely fun, and productive summer to us all.
