Phase 3
Did any of us really become yoga masters, coding geniuses or award winning novelists with the time we had during this period?
If you did I absolutely salute you but if you didn’t that’s okay.
Netflix released some great dramas at this time. There were friends to catch up with, cries to be had, and for people who are working from home, navigating the thorny issue of work-life balance from home and getting acquainted with the further digitisation of our jobs was enough to keep our brains occupied during this time. Not to mention we are in the midst of a global pandemic. Inaction is not a show of weakness, its part of our human nature. Not everyone was overwhelmed during this period but many of us were. And that’s okay. Slowly but surely we will begin to piece together our future steps and emerge from this situation ready to start anew. Humanity has shown innovative ways to connect with each other during this period through fad challenges, the rise in popularity of video messaging apps and also with people banding together to aid ailing neighbours in their time of need. What a time to behold!
Here in Italy begins phase three. For the first time in my three years of living here, I’ll dig out my Korean face masks and wear them with pride knowing a new fashion has emerged. Protective fashion. And hopefully with it, the normalisation of cooperating for the good of the society not just the individual.
