속초행: 영랑호 ~Travelling to Sokcho for the Cherry Blossoms.

I did get to see the cherry blossoms briefly this year during a quick weekend getaway to Sokcho last month. Sokcho is located in the far North of South Korea in a province named Kangwon-do which is famous for its diverse landscapes and winter sports. Sokcho is also famous for Seorak Mountain and more recently, famous for being the first place in South Korea where you could play Pokemon Go!

Sokcho is a nice place, the town areas are quite old fashioned but the beach and sheer nature are very lovely. The most memorable site I saw in Sokcho was Yeongnangho, a naturally formed lagoon from the Silla Period. There wasn't much information on it in the travel guides however, it was highly recommended by locals. It was a short taxi ride to the lake from the bus terminal and we wandered round to appreciate the cherry blossoms and the beautiful lake views. I hear it is just as beautiful in the summer!
